Privacy Policy

DIYmortgage.ca, operated by Prometheus Labs (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada), helps Canadians find government benefit programs they may qualify for. We built this tool for the people most wary of online scams, so we keep what we collect to a minimum and we are plain about how it is used.

What we collect

• Your questionnaire answers: general details such as your province and city, your goal (buy, refinance, renew, build, or reverse mortgage), property type and use, price/value and down payment (or mortgage balance) as figures, the number of applicants and each applicant's status/employment/income range, your credit score range, other monthly debt, and your rate/amortization/feature preferences. We never ask for your SIN, banking, or credit card details, and we do not pull your credit. These are used only to compute your estimates and match you to lenders.
• Your email address: so we can email you your full report and your payment receipt. If you tick the optional box at checkout, we also use it to send you occasional updates about new benefits you may qualify for — the box is never pre-ticked, and every update email includes an unsubscribe link.
• Payment information: handled entirely by Stripe, our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.

What we never ask for

We never request your Social Insurance Number, your bank account details, or your credit card number on this site. If anything ever asks you for those here, it is not us.

How your answers are used

Your answers are checked against our program database to find likely matches, and are sent to our matching provider (Anthropic) solely to rank your matches and write the plain-language reasons you see. Anthropic processes them only at the moment of matching and does not keep them to train its models. They are not used for advertising and are not sold.

How long we keep your information

We do not store your raw survey answers. Your resulting report is kept temporarily (up to 7 days) so you can return to it; if you purchase the full report, we keep it for up to one year so the link in your email keeps working. Records needed for your payment (such as your email and receipt) are kept as required for normal business and tax purposes.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with the trusted services needed to run this tool: Stripe (payment), Resend (sending your report by email), Anthropic (generating your matches), and Cloudflare (secure hosting). Each handles your data only to provide its service.

Cookies and tracking

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Our payment and hosting providers may set cookies that are necessary for security and to process payment.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing hello@diymortgage.ca.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
